Influence Your Practice

Carrie Dameron's article " Influence Your Practice: Pray" (29:1) is wonderfully relevant to Christian nurses. I start my day with a morning prayer asking God to guide and help me be the best Christian nurse possible. On the way to work, I think about the patients I have taken care of the day before and ask for grace to do better today. Throughout the day I ask God to help me deal with the issues I face as a nurse. In the evening, I ask for forgiveness where I have failed. I keep a private list of patients and families with whom I have had spiritual conversations. When appropriate, I go to funerals, send cards, and keep patients in my prayers as God brings them to my mind.

Nursing practice can be a battlefield and a mission field. May God lead nurses to be witnesses wherever he has placed us. And may God enrich the ministry of JCN, and each of us, as we influence our practice through prayer.

I read " What is a Christian Faith-Based Recovery Program " by Shirley M. Timmons in the Journal of Christian Nursing (28:3) and was so excited. I am a PhD student at the University of North Dakota and am studying the impact of faith-based parenting interventions on the health outcomes of children. Thank you for your article. It was an encouragement.
