As we plan for the future, we need to make innovative changes to keep our organization moving forward and meet the ever-changing venue of our practices. We have a large number of nurses who do only aesthetics. With that in mind, we did a survey to see what the interest would be for a nonsurgical aesthetic nursing certification examination. The interest was high, so we formed a task force to pursue this possibility.

I am excited to say that we come up with some positive challenges on this year's agenda. The non surgical aesthetic nursing task force and C-NET (Center for Nursing Education and Testing) met in January to write the test blue print and outline the content for the test, following at a later date by writing test questions. This whole process takes about 9-12 months.

They will have to review and edit items and C-NET will make revisions of test items and assemble and print two pilot-tests to be given during a symposium. A statistical analysis is done on the testing before a final test form is assembled. The task force and C-NET will meet again to review the final test and determine passing score using modified Angoff procedure. Then C-NET makes final revisions and prints test booklets. Once complete, the certification examination is administered at an aesthetic symposium and at C-NET multiple test sites.

This year the CPSN examination is due for a facelift. We will update that test also. As you can tell, we have our work cut out for us.

I want to take this opportunity to encourage you all to take care of yourselves. We are all so busy being caregivers that we forget about ourselves. Please take a few minutes out of each day and do something you enjoy. This will make for a more positive outcome for your health and state of mind. You are Important!

Take care!!!
