A New Year Brings New Opportunities

It's hard to believe we've ushered in the year 2013! So much has changed and evolved in wound care and this journal since its inception in 1988. Last year, we celebrated Advances in Skin & Wound Care's 25th anniversary of publication. This year begins a whole new chapter in the story of our journal, as we advance further into the digital age and offer a menu of publishing resources to meet the user needs of all our readers.

Our most recent launch is the Advances in Skin & Wound Care app for the iPad. With this tool, readers can literally have the latest clinical information on wound care strategies at their fingertips. Special bonuses, such as videos, podcasts, and topic-related links, are also included with certain articles. When you use our app, be sure to take the survey and give us your feedback. We want to hear from you and make your experience better each visit.

Our website, http://www.woundcarejournal.com, continues to add new features to suit your busy practice. Check out the recent blogs, quick polls, videos, news updates, article collections, and the Wound Care Clinical Solutions Investigation (CSI), which challenges you to make the diagnosis.

With this issue, we introduce our first "Online Exclusive" article on our website. It will also be listed on the table of contents page in our print journal, directing you to the website. You can find the article by clicking on the tab labeled "Online Exclusive" across the home page menu. Articles in this section appear under the banner, "Wound Care Around the World," and are intended to showcase articles from international authors, focusing on "this is how-we-do-it here." Although clinical approaches and findings may differ from more traditional techniques or guidelines, these articles will increase your awareness of global wound care issues. We hope to receive many more articles with international wound care stories to share.

And, don't forget that Advances in Skin & Wound Care received its first impact factor in 2012, debuting at an impressing 1.438. We look forward to achieving an even higher status this year, with an arsenal of groundbreaking articles, including original investigations, clinical concepts, and case presentations.

No doubt 2013 will be a very exciting year! Keep reading the journal, visiting the website, and checking out our new iPad app.

And, mark your calendars now for the 28th annual Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care, October 24-27, 2013, at Disney's Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Florida. This is a great opportunity to combine professional education and networking with family fun.

Let's have a great year!
