Welcome to the new Quality Management in Health Care (QMHC). QMHC was founded in 1992, and we are currently publishing our 24th volume. Let me introduce myself, I am the new Editor-in-Chief beginning with the January issue. The legacy of Dr Jean's Carroll editorship will be hard to follow, but I am primed for the challenge.

Readers will immediately notice a new cover for the Journal, a change in colors used to create a high-contrast cover, and a redesign of the interior pages. QMHC has been revisioned and redesigned to create a more contemporary look.

With this issue, we have also moved to a more robust online submission system. We are using Editorial Manager, a Web-based manuscript submission, tracking, and peer-review system that will allow us to efficiently manage all the editorial functions of producing a journal, from the initial author submission until that manuscript is published. We are confident that using this new system will shorten the amount of time from submission to review to final decision and enable authors to electronically submit, review, and track manuscripts online in a few easy steps. This will benefit our authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure that our processes of review and publication are efficient and will free up editor time to move the mission of the Journal forward.

As Editor-in-Chief, my vision for QMHC will evolve over the next year with the help of the Editorial Board and you, our readers and authors. I am committed to making QMHC the premier journal for quality management and improvement. This will require continued improvement of the look and content of QMHC, to include the development of new departments or sections for the Journal, such as book reviews, reoccurring departments that could present an ongoing focus on lean methodologies or quality reporting initiatives, and the possibility of an annual quality management specially focused issue.

The mission of QMHC remains the same, to provide a forum for our readers to explore the theoretical, technical, and strategic elements of global health care quality management by building knowledge around evaluation of health care and health care outcomes, encouraging research on organizational strategies to improve patient and health care outcomes, and fostering the development and application and of quality management science.

Stay with us and expect the best from QMHC.
