INTRODUCTION

On behalf of the Program Planning Committee, I am pleased to present the program for this year's AACVPR Annual Meeting. This program has been developed by the Program Planning Committee to address the diverse interests and needs of our membership. As always, a wide variety of topics will be addressed at the meeting, including leadership issues, program certification, primary and secondary prevention, and many other facets concerning the science and practice of contemporary cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. All of the sessions are designed to provide you with the latest information to help you improve your practice.

The AACVPR is dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and the advancement of education for the benefit of healthcare professionals and the public. Our Annual Meeting offers an opportunity for you to become re-energized while improving upon your knowledge and skills within the cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation field. In addition to the many cutting-edge lectures and poster presentations, our pre-meeting workshop on Peripheral Arterial Disease Rehabilitation will give you a wealth of information and skills necessary to implement a PAD program in your facility, and the pre-meeting workshop entitled "How to Motivate Yourself and Others for Optimum Performance" will provide attendees with ideas and information on how to become more effective managers. We hope you will take advantage of these professional development opportunities.

The annual meeting is always a great time to reconnect with old friends, meet new friends, network with other professionals in your field, and enjoy a beautiful part of our country. I look forward to seeing you in Charlotte, September 26-29, 2002 for this must-attend professional development opportunity.
