Abstract

ABSTRACT: As the specialty of Faith Community Nursing (FCN) continues to grow, and certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has become a reality, there is a responsibility to demonstrate competency in the FCN role. One way competency can be demonstrated in the faith community is through the application of the Faith Community Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. A quantitative, descriptive study of the self-reported frequency with which FCNs apply the Standards of Practice in providing care raises questions about FCNs' understanding of the Standards and related competencies.
