Abstract

Abstract: Using standards of practice to prepare nurse educator students is essential to promote faculty role competence and excellence in nursing education. The purpose of this study was to determine the self-reported knowledge and skills of nurse educator students using the Nurse Educator Self-Evaluation (NESE), a researcher-developed instrument based on the National League for Nursing Core Competencies of Nurse Educators. The NESE was administered to all nurse educator students at the beginning and end of the program. Data analysis using descriptive statistics showed significantly higher scores at the end of the program compared for student knowledge and skills ratings for all task statements.
