Abstract
Nursing is a rich profession with many diverse roles in many settings. The nurse consultant is often a recognized leader/expert who shares knowledge and expertise with clients who request assistance with organizational or personal challenges. Consultants report tremendous satisfaction in their roles, because of the autonomy, independence, and excitement of seeing the client benefit from the consultation. Consultants also face many personal challenges with constant travel, separation from their families, and the responsibility to keep on the "cutting edge." The opportunities to develop a successful consulting business grow as health care evolves and needs experienced professionals to assist with difficult decisions.
