Abstract

Research has uncovered a difference between the standard hospital day shift and night shift, or off shift. Night shift generally sees fewer nursing and ancillary staff members, more on-call personnel, newer team members, fewer services available, and less direct supervision.1-3 Night-shift staff members also often lack connection with hospital resources and opportunities available to the day shift
