Abstract

Home care nurses commonly care for patients with central venous access devices (CVAD) for administration of a variety of infusion therapies. Catheter occlusion is a potential complication. In the February 2002 issue of HHN the etiology and treatment of thrombotic occlusions were described. This month, the focus is on nonthrombotic causes of CVAD occlusion.
