Abstract

The author describes a teaching strategy designed to develop nursing students' critical thinking skills in a seminar. Students participate in the seminar by assuming one of three roles: leader, participant, or evaluator. Each role has responsibilities designed to foster reflective thinking on their own learning beyond the course content. The educational values derived from this experience include modeling creativity and risk taking to foster new patterns of learning and enriching students' formative and summative evaluation skills.
