Abstract

Emergency hormonal contraception (EC) is a safe and effective method of reducing the risk of pregnancy following unprotected intercourse. However, it remains underutilized in the adolescent population. This article will review barriers to the use of EC, as well as discuss strategies to improve access, with the goal of increasing awareness and use of EC for adolescents.
