APWCA

Membership category change. The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA) has recently eliminated its Member category. New categories are Fellow, Diplomate, or Associate, depending on the applicant's educational background. All physicians and nonphysicians (nurses, nurse practitioners, or physical therapists) who are not board certified in wound care, physicians who are not board certified in their field of specialty, and those who do not have a PhD are now classified in the Associate category. Members with a PhD are now classified in the Fellow category. Per the original membership structure, all nonphysicians who are board certified in wound care are classified in the Diplomate category, and all physicians (MDs, DOs, or DPMs) who are board certified in their field of specialty or in wound care are classified in the Fellow category.
