Abstract

To address the problem of a shortage of nurse educators, nursing faculty at George Mason University initiated a mentoring program for new faculty. A major goal of this program was to support tenure-track faculty. While there was a shortage of faculty for this nursing program, there was a greater shortage of tenured faculty that threatened to become worse as tenured educators retired. The author describes the school's solution to the lack of qualified nurse educators.
