Abstract

Dietetic students should take a nutrigenomics course during their studies. After students have learned the fundamentals of genetics and the Human Genome Project, the link between genetics and disease should become evident. A survey on the improtance of genetics in the field of nutrition/dietetics was conducted in one dietetics program. Thirty six students revealed that they did not have a high level of knowledge but did have a high level of interest in learning about the linkage of diet, disease, and genetics.
