NPUAP

New officers elected. Mary Ellen Posthauer, RD, CD, LD, is the new president of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP). Ms Posthauer is a consultant dietitian with Supreme Care West, LLC, Evansville, IN.

 

Other officers are vice-president, Mona M. Baharestani, PhD, ANP, CWOCN, CWS, Director of Wound Healing, Long Island Jewish Health System, New Hyde Park, NY; secretary, Joyce Black, PhD, RN, CWCN, CPSN, University of Nebraska Omaha, NE; and treasurer, Barbara J. Braden, PhD, RN, FAAN, Creighton University, Omaha, NE.

 

Awards announced. At the NPUAP's biannual conference, recently held in Tampa, FL, 2 awards were announced. The Kosiak Award was presented to George Rodeheaver, PhD, University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA. The Thomas Steward Award was given to Beverly Cullen, RN Program Officer for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Baltimore, MD.

WOCN

Annual meeting in Las Vegas. The Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) will hold its 37th annual conference on June 12 to 16, 2005, at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The annual conference will provide a week of educational opportunities in the areas of wounds, ostomy, continence, and professional practice. Nurses can earn up to 32.4 contact hours by attending the annual educational conference and up to 7.2 additional contact hours by adding preconference sessions.
