The article "Conquering Pain: Have You Tried These New Techniques" (March 2005) was quite informative and refreshing. However, you omitted one mode of treatment: acupuncture.
I'd been experiencing scar tissue pain and neuropathic pain secondary to surgery. Then last September, I started having acupuncture treatments. The results were gradual, but after 12 treatments, I had a full effect. Now I need maintenance treatments only about once a month. I recommend acupuncture to anyone with this kind of discomfort.
