Dr. Kathryn Blair's article, "Does Faculty Practice Validate the NP Educator Role?" 1 stresses the value and benefits of educators who continue to practice in a clinical role. As students, we feel Dr. Blair is correct in her assessment. The fact that our educators are currently working as advanced practice nurses has positively impacted the education we have received. In the classroom, there is no more effective way to learn theory than to hear case studies and/or examples of theory put into practice. Educators who continue to practice are able to bring life to content and display an unparalleled passion for those skills that are unique to nursing.
