In "Acute Respiratory Failure: Part 1. Failure in Oxygenation" by Melinda Smyth (May), in the section "Assessment" it states "Although the pulse oximeter may reflect a slightly lower-than-normal PaO2 value, oxygen is more readily available for intracellular transport because of decreased hemoglobin binding." The first part of the sentence should read "Although the pulse oximeter may reflect a slightly lower-than-normal saturation for a given PaO2. . . ." Also the first section of the article states that "the treatment plans differ as the body's coping mechanisms begin to fail." This should read "initial treatment plans may differ. . . ."
