Abstract

Nimodipine (Nimotop), a calcium channel blocker used to reduce cerebral vasospasm due to subarachnoid hemorrhage, is available as liquid-filled gelatin capsules for oral administration. The labeling indicates that if a patient can't swallow, the capsule contents can be drawn into a syringe and administered through a nasogastric (NG) tube, which is then flushed with saline.
