Abstract

After performing perineal care with nonsterile gloves, I removed my soiled gloves, put on sterile gloves, and inserted an indwelling urinary catheter. My nurse-manager reprimanded me for not decontaminating my hands before putting on the new pair of gloves. I thought that was necessary only between patients, not in the midst of care for the same patient. Am I wrong?
