Abstract

A physician assistant (PA) prescribed fluoxetine (an antidepressant marketed under the brand names Prozac, Erocap, Lovan, and Zactin) 100 mg P.O. for a patient newly admitted to the hospital. A pharmacist tried calling the PA to question the high dose (normal dose, 20 to 80 mg), but he'd left for the day.
