New editor-in-chief.Mikel Gray, PhD, CUNP, CCCN, FAAN, recently was appointed as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing, the official publication of the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society. Dr Gray previously served as a section editor for the journal, focusing on the Center for Clinical Investigation. In addition to his work with the journal, he has authored or co-edited 3 books, written more than 57 chapters, and authored 105 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Gray has also lectured nationally and internationally on topics related to urologic nursing; wound, ostomy, and continence nursing; and evidence-based practice.

 

Award winner. DFB Pharmaceuticals, Inc, Fort Worth, TX, recently presented its inaugural DFB Research and Development Achievement Award to Lei Shi, PhD, in recognition of a significant role with notable innovation and creativity in the development of a new product or technology that has advanced the company's success. Dr Shi is the leader of the Cell Biology and Biochemistry Team at DFB Central Research and has developed the release tests for Panafil and Accuzyme. He also developed a novel in vitro eschar model for debridement that was presented at the 2004 Wound Healing Society Meeting and is now a standard testing method.
