Abstract

In older adults, anticholinergic drugs can cause adverse reactions that mimic early dementia, such as confusion, memory loss, and disorientation. Drugs in this class, which include antihistamines and other familiar drugs, are commonly taken to treat such conditions as Parkinson's disease and allergies.
