Abstract

Patient satisfaction surveys have recently become the leading tools utilized by the leaders of healthcare organizations to ascertain necessary improvements of the quality and delivery of care to the consumers they service. However, much debate and controversy has erupted concerning the actual information contained within the surveys, and the data that are obtained from their analysis. The studies and articles presented suggest an array of research that overwhelmingly suggests the need for a standardized national survey, or newly developed tool of assessment, which should be customized and tailored to the individual environments and settings that wish to assess patient satisfaction.
