Abstract

Innovations in the management of patient safety continue to be urgently needed. This article presents a case for assessing bedside nurses' perception of a near miss. The primary aim is to raise awareness of the need for bedside nurses to view near misses from a system perspective and contribute to further design of error and near-miss reporting systems that minimize barriers and facilitate a just culture.
