Surviving ACS. Your patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are likely to have better outcomes if your hospital closely adheres to American College of Cardiology-American Heart Association (ACC-AHA) guidelines for non-ST-segment elevation ACS. How much better? According to a recent study of 64,775 patients with ACS at 350 U.S. medical centers, hospitals that rigorously adhered to the key recommendations in the ACC-AHA guidelines had an average in-hospital death rate of 4.15%, compared with 6.31% at hospitals with the lowest adherence to the guidelines.
