Abstract

I read "So You've Been Named in a Lawsuit[horizontal ellipsis]What Happens Next?" (July 2006) with interest because I was named in a malpractice suit several years ago. One thing people don't realize is how long it takes-mine went on for 5 years before a court date was set. The suit was settled out of court 2 weeks before it was set to go to trial.

I don't think I'll ever truly be over it emotionally. Although nothing was paid on my behalf, I haven't been the same. I lost confidence in myself and questioned practically everything I did, even the simplest task. Only recently have I really begun to feel secure in my judgment again.
