Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing (DCCN) reports the recent death of Janet T. Ihlenfeld, PhD, RN. Dr Ihlenfield passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2006. She served DCCN as a contributing editor, as a member of the editorial board, and as the author of the column "Research Abstracts," which appears in every issue. Dr Ihlenfield was a professor of nursing at D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing from D'Youville College and her master of science in nursing and PhD in philosophy from the State University at Buffalo. As a prolific writer, she recently had a book published that helps student nurses learn to care for pediatric patients. Dr Ihlenfield will be missed by her students, colleagues, and the DCCN team. Janet, thank you for everything that you did to better the profession of nursing and for your loyalty to DCCN.
