I have type 1 diabetes and take Humalog, Lantus, and Symlin. I am also on disability. I hold a master's degree in counseling, yet I too had trouble figuring out which plan to join ("The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit," June).

After I joined, I found out that my actual costs would increase because I would lose the discounted pricing I was receiving from my Medigap plan and patient assistance programs. I was much better off when I received medications with prescription assistance, which is not being offered to those with Part D coverage. Combine this with the increase in prescription prices since this bill was passed and you will realize why so many of us with modest means above the poverty cutoff are upset with this "coverage."
