To the Editor,

I am writing in reference to the Drug Forum column titled "Propofol" in the March/April 2006 issue of Gastroenterology Nursing. In the column, the author states, "The use of propofol by practitioners who are not trained in the use of general anesthesia and medications that cause deep sedation has resulted in respiratory arrest and death." The assertion is not referenced. Can the author substantiate this claim?

Sincerely,
