Abstract

Dementia-specific training is critical to quality dementia care, yet many of the paraprofessionals charged with that task are not included in this process. This article discusses the Alzheimer's Association Foundations of Dementia Care training curriculum, including the results of field testing with residential care professionals. Results show that evidence-based programs that leverage the experience of professional caregivers are effective in teaching good dementia care.
