Abstract

Home care clinicians recognize the importance of effective communication. Although the ability to present information often has been stressed, the ability to listen effectively to the client may be a forgotten art. This article focuses on common barriers to effective communication and provides pointers to help clinicians listen to the needs and concerns of their clients. Through effective listening, patient care and compliance can be improved.
