Abstract

This article describes the complex issues in palliative care of a woman with HIV disease, multiple psychiatric issues, and a substance abuse disorder. She went from a state near death to having the opportunity to make peace with her family and before expecting to die. This article describes the multiple transitions faced by this patient and her providers as she continues to live and question the meaning and purpose of her life.
