Ericka Gess, Milisa Manojlovich, and Sharon Warner, authors of the article entitled "An Evidence Based Protocol for Nurse Retention" [2008;33(10):441-447], acknowledge an attribution citation that was inadvertently omitted. Their article used the evaluation tools developed by Dr Jane Tang and her protocol for nurse retention, but she was not cited appropriately for this work. Although the authors of the original Nursing Measurement Tool Form and the Anticipated Turnover Scale were appropriately cited, the versions discussed in their article were the versions adapted by Dr Tang with the permission of the original authors.

 

The authors state, "We wish to ensure that Dr Tang is appropriately credited for this work. We did not mean to discredit her in any way. Dr Tang should also be credited for some of the wording describing the use of the evaluation materials and their value to nurse leaders. We would like to appropriately credit Dr Tang for her work as this article would not be complete without it. Her article citation is 'Tang JH-C. Evidence-based protocol: nurse retention. J Gerontol Nurs. 2003;29(3):5-14.'"

 

The authors would also like to credit Dr Federico Varona for his quote that was used in describing organizational commitment as part of a larger cluster of constructs.(p442, p2) This citation was inadvertently omitted as well. His article citation is "Varona F. Conceptualization and management of communication satisfaction and organizational commitment in 3 Guatemalan organizations.
