Abstract

The discussion presents summaries of 4 publications that describe research relevant to improving care delivery for patients with HIV/AIDS. The first write-up describes a study that investigated depression in the HIV population and the issue of underdiagnosis. The next report examines the effect that treating depression with medication has on adherence to recommended antiretroviral treatment and other patient outcomes. The third article examines strategies to improve adherence through a systematic review of studies investigating the effectiveness of patient support and education programs. The final article summarizes a systematic review of literature investigating the potential role of progressive resistance exercise in improving patient health status. For additional details about the interventions and study findings, we suggest that our readers review the original articles.
