In 2003, like many hospitals and healthcare centers across the country, Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts, was facing a paucity of dermatologists. Patients confronted long wait times for appointments and difficulty scheduling follow-up visits. Dr. Suzanne Olbricht, a Mohs surgeon and chief of Lahey's dermatology department, had experience working with nurse practitioners (NPs) in dermatology.
