Abstract

Review of recent evidence with translation to practice for the advanced practice nurse role is presented using a case study module for "Randomized, controlled trial of antibiotics in the management of community acquired skin abscesses in the pediatric patient." The study results showed that antibiotics were not necessarily associated with better wound resolution than incision and drainage alone. The implications and clinical relevance of these findings for advanced practice nurses are discussed highlighting best evidence.
