Abstract

Review of recent evidence with translation to practice for the advanced practice nurse role is presented using a case study module for "racial and sex differences in emergency department triage assessment and test ordering for chest pain." The study results showed that there might be some differences in how triage nurses approach the management of patients with chest pain on the basis of gender and ethnicity. The implications and clinical relevance of these findings for advanced practice nurses are discussed highlighting best evidence.
