INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS AND NOMINATIONS FOR

EDITOR

FOR THE DERMATOLOGY NURSES' ASSOCIATION
NEW OFFICIAL JOURNAL

The Dermatology Nurses' Association (DNA) announces the search for the founding Editor of DNA's new journal, to be launched February 2009. The journal will be wholly owned by DNA, and published by the internationally renowned nursing publisher, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

The role of the Editor is critical for the success of this new journal, which is expected to publish (in print and online, in full color throughout), 6 issues each year, with 56 pages of editorial content in each issue. The journal will be positioned as the leading peer-reviewed journal of dermatology nursing, publishing original research and clinical articles, review articles, and educational features, along with professional information for all members of the Association.

The Editor's first term will span 5.5 years, starting in mid-2008 and ending December 2013, with a possibility for renewal for an additional 5-year term. The Editor will work closely with the Publisher and the Association, and will be involved in developing editorial strategy, including developing the Editorial Team of Associate Editors, Editorial Advisors, and Reviewers. The Publisher will provide a robust web-based manuscript submission and peer review administration system and will offer training to all members of the Editorial team. The Editor will receive an honorarium in addition to administrative support.

Applicants should provide a statement of why they are interested in the Editorship of the Journal, along with their current CV, and should include evidence of fulfillment of the following criteria:

  • Strong academic, educational, and clinical achievement in dermatology nursing;
  • Experience in writing or editing for one or more professional nursing journals;
  • Commitment to upholding unassailable standards of editorial integrity, including unbiased peer review;
  • Network and reputation to attract the best authors, reviewers and editorial board members to the journal;
  • Active interest in utilizing the Internet to enhance the journal's usability to readers;
  • Time to devote to the editorship.

Applications or nominations of colleagues (who have expressed an interest and have agreed to have their names put forward) must be received by July 18, 2008. Please send the requested information via mail, fax, or email to:
