FRIDAY, Aug. 7 (HealthDay News) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a series of state-by-state reports that outline its conclusions on the effects health insurance reform would have on health care for Americans, according to an Aug. 7 release issued by the agency.

According to HHS, the reports, called "Stable and Secure Health Care for America," show that reforming the nation's health insurance system would lower health care costs, increase the number of health care options consumers can choose from, and ensure high-quality, affordable health care.

The reports are the second in a series of state-by-state reports on health care. Earlier in the summer, HHS released "The Health Care Status Quo in Your State," which provided information on the current state of health care in the United States.

"These reports show how health insurance reform will help Americans save money, get better care, strengthen their insurance if they already have it, and afford insurance if they don't," HHS secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, said in a statement. "Every American will benefit when we pass health insurance reform."
