In some states—including my own—people with much less education and training than a licensed nurse can pass medications. They're called certified medication aides or technicians. I've also heard that some states require minimal preparation for this position; for example, a high school graduate might qualify after getting 40 to 60 hours of additional classroom training and 20 to 40 hours of clinical experience. How can someone with so little preparation assume the huge responsibility of passing medications?
