A patient asked me for some water late one evening. By the time I brought a pitcher of water to his room, he'd fallen asleep, so I set it on his bedside table, far enough away from him so that he wouldn't knock it over by mistake .

Apparently he woke up in the middle of the night feeling thirsty and reached for the pitcher. He says he had to stretch so far that he pulled something in his back that hasn't stopped hurting since. He's accused me of causing his injury by putting the water pitcher too far away for him to easily reach, given his condition .

Should I be worried about this? He could have rung for help if he needed it! —T.E., KY.
