This session will review the 2004 Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations standards and the implications they have for your setting. Preprocedure, procedural and postprocedural care requirements will be discussed. Challenges such as pregnant and bariatric patients will be presented. Recommended medications will be identified. Issues such as propofol administration, "non per os" status, and reversals will be investigated. A review of state regulations will be discussed. A questions and answer period will allow for audience participation.
We are pleased to present the Abstracts from the SGNA's 32nd Annual Course: Passion for GI Nursing: Pass It On!! The diversity of these topics certainly reflects the richness and breadth of our specialty. In keeping with the tradition of the Annual Course, we hope the following abstracts will encourage discussions for improving nursing practice and patient care outcomes.
