ABSTRACT
Although I'm an RN with years of ED experience, I don't know what to do about the mess I'm facing. Last week, I was supervising a new RN fresh out of nursing school. She was doing well during a relatively quiet shift, but when the victims of a multicar crash began arriving, the unit went from calm to chaos. Sometime during the commotion, the new RN made an error that I didn't observe and her patient was harmed. Now the family wants to sue her and me. Who should take the heat?
