ABSTRACT
I recently read a devotional about the need for clear communication. As a faith community/parish nurse it's important to be accessible, approachable, and a good communicator. Are your hours of availability posted in the Sunday bulletin, newsletter, and on the church's Web site? If you have an office, is it easy to reach by those with mobility issues? Is it easy to find? If your congregation offers multiple worship services do you attend the various services periodically? Do you make yourself accessible to small groups, classes, and activities? Do you make yourself accessible to partner with organizations and service providers in the community?The easiest way to achieve approachability is by speaking first and smiling. Your welcome sets the tone for interaction. Hebrews 13:2 reminds us of the importance of hospitality. Do you greet people before services and events, introduce yourself to visitors?
