    New Breath Test Monitors Asthma

    The FDA approved the first noninvasive test system to measure the concentration of nitric oxide (NO) in exhaled human breath. The test, NIOX Nitric Oxide Test System, makes it easier for health care practitioners to monitor asthma.

    The test evaluates patients’ response to anti-inflammatory treatment. A decrease in exhaled NO concentration suggests that the anti-inflammatory treatment may be decreasing asthma-associated lung inflammation.
