The first articles in this series addressed nutrition knowledge of the medical side of health care, including physicians and nurses. While this group of practitioners assesses, treats, and educates on disease states, this article reviews nutrition know-how of those working in physical rehabilitation. While talking with an occupational therapist (OT), she described her work as a blend of art, psychology, and medicine. Reflecting on this concept, I wanted to compare and contrast this with all health care disciplines.

Looking at the continuum of care in health care, the acute care hospital can be viewed as a place to stabilize the patient before transferring to a facility for restoring and rehabilitating. ...
