ABSTRACT

The ability to conduct a literature search is an important skill for the wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nurse. A literature search can reveal the existing research-based evidence supporting a question about WOC practice. For writing a grant proposal (for the WOCN Society's small grants program), searching a scholarly database assists in determining what has already been studied about a subject, as well as gaps in knowledge needing further investigation.
