Radiation therapy is a powerful tool for treating cancer that will be part of the treatment course for more than 50% of cancer patients. 1 Although radiation therapy targets tissue at a particular location and depth, tissues overlying the site can also be affected and may react to the treatment. 2 This happens to about 95% of patients receiving radiation. 3
